desk mates

gathered mementos before me—

  • intricate paper snowflake
  • 8-year-old’s bumblebee pennant (“Be Your Self”)
  • green St. Patty’s Day beads
  • gifted key chains from India
  • sidewalk finds: peace sign, ocean wave pendants
  • painted rock
  • watercolor print
  • B&W, small child (me) w/her daddy
  • favorite mug, broken handle facing the wall
  • poetry postcard from a good friend
  • Harry Potter 9 ¾ wooden bookmark
  • two oversized copper paperclips

any and each of which, still gladden my heart, still make me smile

  1. Julie, I adore “desk mates”.

It makes me want to take everything off my desk and begin again with cherished items, not the practical, uninteresting b.s.!

    • Thank you, friend. What prompted this was the ‘Be Your Self’ pennant which I bought at a craft show. The little guy who made it was so proud and I love how it should probably (?!?) have been written as ‘Bee Your Self’. But who am I to judge? 😀
