gathered mementos before me—
- intricate paper snowflake
- 8-year-old’s bumblebee pennant (“Be Your Self”)
- green St. Patty’s Day beads
- gifted key chains from India
- sidewalk finds: peace sign, ocean wave pendants
- painted rock
- watercolor print
- B&W, small child (me) w/her daddy
- favorite mug, broken handle facing the wall
- poetry postcard from a good friend
- Harry Potter 9 ¾ wooden bookmark
- two oversized copper paperclips
any and each of which, still gladden my heart, still make me smile

Julie, I adore “desk mates”.
It makes me want to take everything off my desk and begin again with cherished items, not the practical, uninteresting b.s.!

Thank you, friend. What prompted this was the ‘Be Your Self’ pennant which I bought at a craft show. The little guy who made it was so proud and I love how it should probably (?!?) have been written as ‘Bee Your Self’. But who am I to judge? 😀
