hankering for scrambled eggs
a crumble of cheddar cheese
wake up, Chef Husband!

string of black cats
smudge marks on concrete
sparklers of my childhood
water pools on morning fairway
solitary golfer sloshes through saturated bentgrass
the course is silent while it waits
separating the wash
delicates, darks, teals & blues
naked day was always the plan…
In the debut issue of orange juice the poetry journal, you’ll find my poem everglades. It appears on page 4 and I hope you enjoy it!
POSTSCRIPT: I’ve learned this journal has ceased publication. The link is a dead one. My apologies!! ~ Julie 11.14.2024
in pursuit of red-tailed hawk
like the dangling snake in its grasp
smaller birds haven’t a chance
yesterday’s sidewalk
tomorrows parkway
avenues & thoroughfares
It’s been a very long time since I’ve reposted someone else’s work but I discovered this delightful prose poem today courtesy of the Lit Mag News’ monthly ‘mag brag’ newsletter and hope others will enjoy it as much as I did! It’s called Love Bites by Goldie Peacock and appears in MoonPark Review. It’s a real ‘catch’!!
two combatants
a decent man; the other, hardly so
and yet, evil somehow prevails
coneflowers’ weighty crowns
hovering monarchs, bumbling bees
flower garden mainstays
