disco chicken
strobe-light clucker
jive talkin’
just as I remember it—
spooky day,
windy, cold & wet
honey toast & juice
a light frost
blankets the fairways

morning light across the bay
sturdy roan harnessed for another day’s work
scent of taffy in the October air
no-see-um baubles
ladybug jewelry
the latest fall accessories
ceramic warmth
hot cinnamon spice
October unchilled
gust of wind
sheer northwesterly blast
puppy & I lean, hard
chanticleer pear
changes her petticoat
red, for long winter’s nap
season of the witch
does it linger
beyond Halloween?
Here’s a poem I wrote last spring, published today in the midst of this glorious autumn weather we’re having! It appears in DarkWinter Lit, an independent press from Ontario, Canada.
The poem is daffodils and I hope you’ll like it. As ever, THANK YOU for your support.
