the ache for beauty
whence comes
spring to rescue us all?

the ache for beauty
whence comes
spring to rescue us all?
hosta spears peek
through the debris
of winter’s last gasp
the end of February
I’m thinking of cicadas
do they wait for me?
there is no hurt
like the pain
a family can inflict
puppy pulls on his leash
how does he know
I’ll follow him anywhere?
orca, eider, penguin
88 keys on a piano
millions upon millions
of us, all on one small dot
quiet snowfall
beaded whirlwinds
a gentle white
