curdled milk, ropey eggs
food expiry dates, a year in arrears
demented brains, atrophied limbs
vision, like minds, cloudy and blurred
this house no longer holds
change is required
difficult but necessary
little tragedies
taking place
nearly every day

Oh the busy life of parenting.
Especially parenting our elderly parents! We’re hitting a few snags – huge logs in the river, actually – with husband’s parents. It is time for assisted living but a very touchy subject. Getting old, it’s not for the squeamish.
It really isn’t. My husband and I are being proactive and researching our options now, so the children aren’t left with the mess.
