she thinks in terms of color,
texture, line and symmetry
though she’s drawn, sometimes,
to the charm of the asymmetrical.
she sees an image in her mind,
then tackles the brush, the paper,

vertigo creeps in before dawn
moon shining through my transom window
shadowed leaves of the maple tree
tilt and spin, wave after wave after wave

succulent skies

dull razor claws
the canvas layer
mud clumps tip

I wrench fresh babes
from tangled domiciles,
relocate each one
to its new home

Life-changing, attaining these simple lessons? Probably not. But, with a smile on my face, I enjoyed the process of discovery, the ‘aha’ moments and the tucking-away of precious new (and perhaps useful) information for future writing endeavors.
Here’s to our own special ravens!
