Wordless Wednesday

I always love to play this game. Props to Judy for the weekly challenge! This week’s number is 212 and, from my archives, here are a few photos.

a pale autumn sun,
bright with light despite its low arc,
bursts through the delicate translucence
of her simple, cotton draperies

a child wraps herself
around the milk-chocolate feathers
of a bantam chicken,
its fleshy red comb wobbles
as the young girl’s grip
tightens with affection,
then loosens in apprehension
that borders on fear
as the hen clucks and shimmies,
anxious for its freedom
to root and strut and peck
in the dust and strewn feed
with the rest of its impassive flock
This week’s number, courtesy of Judy Dykstra-Brown’s weekly throw-down, is 206. Here are a few photos from my archives to fit that bill!
