My sister and I were photo exploring one beautiful afternoon – during a welcome break from our cold, cold winter this year – when I caught sight of this young woman riding her bike. Gravel roads aren’t easy to navigate on two wheels but her fat tires apparently were up to the task!

One Word Photo Challenge: Barn
A compilation of some of my favorite barn images. I’ve loved barns since I was a teenager and was thrilled to learn about the Iowa Barn Tour that’s held throughout the state each year. Highly recommended!

All in All You Were All Just (Rocks) in the Wall

Look closely. This huge retaining wall is built with a heavily-wired frame filled with thousands of large rocks.
Our Own (Little) World

It’s a magical world, Hobbes, ol’ buddy… Let’s go exploring!

A Little Bit of Pink
I love gravel travel! You really just never know what you’re going to find. My sister and I had great fun on Sunday – temps in the mid 30’s after several long, cold, frigid days this Iowa winter – driving country roads in search of — whatever!
My sister told me to STOP and back up when she caught sight of this pink chair positioned off to the side in front of a small white structure. A nice burst of color for late January. And all is well with the world…

Winter Hike
Why have we not done this before? Hiking through the wintry woods with blue skies overhead and temps in the lower thirties presented us with a fantastic workout, fresh air and the opportunity to snap a few photos. Bucket List for 2016? Still mulling that over but I think incorporating more outdoor excursions is a most definite goal for the new year.
