The Most Glorious Time of the Year
The Visitor
Let the Eating Season Begin….

Halloween is the catalyst. It starts the ball rolling. We stuff ourselves on (stashed away!) Trick or Treat candy and it’s all downhill from there. Thanksgiving, endless holiday get-togethers, baked goods and cookies at work, ‘just this once’ excuses to gorge. And then of course The Big Day itself. Next up is New Year’s Eve, a celebratory extravaganza of still more to chow down on.
And then the guilt – and pounds – really start to settle in…
But for now – Enjoy! And Happy Halloween to my wonderful blogging friends everywhere. 🙂

Festival of Leaves Photo Challenge: Week 9
Egg Harbor After Dark

On our Door County vacation earlier this month, husband and I played with a little night photography. Bill worked with a tripod while I made use of the new monopod I purchased in September.
Using the dock railing as additional support, I was able to capture a few shots. I like the placement of lights both along the dock and reflected on the water in the distance. The flowers are a little muddy but I was pleased with how that silver, rectangular ‘thingy’ turned out. Does anyone know what that is?
We had fun experimenting snapping pics after dark and while I have very little experience with night photography, it’s definitely on my To Play list in the future!

Autumn Rust
The Defiant Ones

Husband and I spent a glorious afternoon hiking this weekend and these young ‘uns – rebels! – were also savoring a beautiful October day on their Harley Davidson motorcyles. Our very own, gorgeously incredible Ledges State Park was a madhouse of visitors yesterday.
Folks here realize that each and every luscious fall day that goes by may be the last good one of the year so you have to get out there while you can. These fellows, in their biker black leathers, graciously agreed to allow me to photograph them. I love their casual pose, the only shot I took as I did not want to delay them – they’d only just arrived when I crossed their path – in their enjoyment of a fantastic fall day here in central Iowa.
