milk-white fog
its deafening silence
can be heard everywhere
beyond the birch
feeder clangs noisily
January wind dispenses every seed
juncos searching elsewhere
merlot
pale January sky
fresh snow cover
the warmth of red wine
this is a nice break from sub-zero temps but spring soil needs a little moisture, too

the bite of January
cold feet rassling for warmth
bedtime ritual
they call it progress
winter blankets a stubbled plain
the last of corn’s plantings
soon, families will reside in this place

Unfortunately, my library yielded only a handful of photos when I asked it to deliver up those with a 178 in their filename.
