Husband and I stumbled across this beautiful old church tonight which I later discovered was the subject of a local newscast in 2014 to chronicle it being the last church in Churchville. Spare and lean, this tightly constructed house of worship looks to have been lovingly cared for over the years.
As noted in the ‘local newscast’ link in my post: A Catholic church founded in 1890 is about to end its weekly mass and end the long tradition of churches in the Iowa town of Churchville.
Churchville is a teeny, tiny town in central Iowa. My husband and I have ridden a bike trail that crosses very close by and we wanted to explore all the places where the trail intersected the gravel roads to get a sense of where the trail aligned with the landmarks in that area. That’s how we discovered this small burg and the church.
Thank you for your comment and for stopping by. Greatly appreciated!! 🙂
Such a great entry for this week’s churches. I really like the 3rd photo. The new white grout lines around some of the brick and the bell really make this photo pop.
It is beautiful, last church in what way? I mean the last to be constructed or by locality? Thanks for sharing.

Thank! It was a fun discovery. I had forgotten this was the theme for this week’s challenge so quite timely!
I just read the link now, it is really sad when something which has always been a part of our lives becomes something of the past.
I agree!
