  1. It took me a while to work out exactly what I was seeing here. I like the maroon and the palest of blue colour in the frame. Is the rusty chair guarding the entrance? Fascinating picture.

    • I took this a couple of weeks ago while on a weekend getaway with my husband. This was shot at an amazing place called Seed Savers Exchange – 890 gorgeous acres with hills, woods, trout streams and cows languishing in the meadows near Decorah, IA, a small college town in the NE corner of our fair state. (See my post titled The Homestead for an overview shot of the barn/farm there.)

Someone had placed this old chair in front of the barn door. I would have preferred it be set just a bit more to the right but didn’t feel it would be appropriate to move it myself (especially in plain view of anyone watching from the main building!)

Thanks for your comments – and for stopping by! 🙂

  2. Actually, the orange chair a little off center is perfect for the ones, like I, who do not like symmetry! Hope you have taken some views of the landscapes you describe above:):) Read “somewhere” that the X-sign (oiriginally) was to ward off evil spirits, but I don’t know if that belongs to one particular building style, or not.
