I don’t usually post my quilting projects. Well, at first, I guess I did but, in any case, I just haven’t done it much lately. Anyway, I did want to share this one which I started nearly a year ago. I’ve worked on it, off and on, throughout the year and finally finished it this afternoon.
Its design is called the Carpenter Star, and it measures 82×82. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. This one was a beast to work on and I’m so glad it’s done!! Now to focus on poetry again for a little while before I start another quilt project anytime soon. At least that’s the plan!!

My mums loves quilting too and we have so many in our house. This is gorgeous.
Thanks, Leanne. It’s a lovely – and gratifying – hobby!
My brother-in-law’s wife is a keen quilter too. I don’t have either the patience or skill.
Until a few years ago, I had no interest whatsoever. I didn’t even know how to thread a needle on a sewing machine, a decidedly foreign object as far as I was concerned. My mom has quilted for years and it wasn’t until my youngest sister started, two years before I did, that I thought I’d give it a try. It took a lot of hand holding and guidance from her and my mom but before I could say fat quarter bundle, I was off and away on my own quilting adventures! Fabric stores are heaven on earth and filled with wonderful, colorful, must-have temptations. I’m so glad I gave it a go!
Time well spent, Julie. Carpenter Star is gorgeous! I really like the color combinations.
Thanks, Shelly! I like them too especially with the black background. The pattern called for white but, well, you know me!! HA!
This is gorgeous, Julie. I don’t quilt, but I admire the artistry of those who do!
Thanks, Sandy!
Welcome.
