july afternoon
hot, hazy, humid
remembered
ten-year-old summer days
wicked
wild carrot
o canada!
sun ascends the horizon
large scarlet ball in the sky
wildfire’s smoke not yet dissipated
potential assassins, these neighbors’ dogs & their humans…
puppy barks at the front door
jumps on the bed to peer out the window
protecting his people, his top priority
