Silent Sunday

emptied pack
of fruit-stripe gum
colors more vivid
when I was a kid
late April winds blow,
whisking away winter sleep
frozen hearts, melancholy souls
the warmth of spring returns
swelling my heart
beneath the rays of the sun

orange peel residue
sunshine encircles me
all through the day
A couple of my poems were published by Children, Churches and Daddies, a project of Scars Publications, this afternoon that I’d like to share. Both were written fairly recently and I’m very pleased to have found a home for these pieces. I hope you’ll check them out. Let me know what you think!

We’d had several storms move through the area during the overnight hours and after all the thunder and lightning and downpouring of much needed precipitation, this lone, little beauty beckoned outside our front door!
When I showed the photo to husband, his first response? “Oh. Nice shot of the truck!”
