how huge, our sky?

wicked morning wall cloud
last night’s weather, all over again
boom, boom, boom!
poetic sabbatical
or lack of focus?
missing the words…
claw-footed clouds
razor-sharp leaves
mechanisms of nature

~ with a nod to Buson’s series of ‘short night’ haiku

owl wingtips slapping
snow off tiny branches

Although my dad was a sawyer, whose livelihood was taking down groves of oak, maple and cottonwood – and the occasional large walnut – and cutting them into lumber, we’ve always had a love affair with trees.
